Highlights of the department:

Ø  The department provides a total of 4 programmes, including 2 UG and 2 PG degrees that are appropriate for the current competitive environment. The Department of Commerce offers a General B.Com programme in addition to restructured programmes in B.Com-Computer Application, M.Com-Banking & Insurance, and M.Com-Accounting and Taxation, all of which provide excellent employment chances in the current cutthroat job market.

  • For UG programmes, the Department achieves a pass percentage of 80 to 90% in core subjects, 90 to 100% in life skill and skill development courses, and 100% for PG degrees.

  • There are currently 5 exceptionally qualified, bright, and engaged faculty members in the department. 4 regulars and 1 contract. One faculty member has an M.Phil., while two have doctorates. Four faculty members—two of whom are pursuing doctorates—have NET and SLET certifications.

  • The department's faculty members have taken 35 faculty development courses, 17 refresher courses, and 6 orientation courses, in both offline and online formats during the last five years from academic staff colleges at various universities and ARPIT in SWAYAM.

  • Every faculty member incorporates ICT-based teaching-learning techniques into their lesson plans.

  • As majority of the students come from low-income families. The Department of Commerce faculty took the initiative to pay exam and college fees generously to deserving students through the programme called “EACH ONE REACH ONE” .It is a kind of programme to stretch the hands to encourage needy students

  • The Department of Commerce intended to identify the students' innate skills and refine them in their corresponding fields. In this regard, the department created student-centric cells and clubs, such as the EDC Cell, Commerce Lab, and Consumer Club, and got them under an umbrella programme called (Best practice )  “ TALENT HUNT”.

  • The majority of the department's undergraduate graduates are pursuing post-graduate degrees such the M.com and M.B.A. Some of them are chosen for positions in different institutions.

  • As a best practice, the Department additionally calculates and verifies the pay information for all institution employees for tax purposes.

  • One of the staff Members D. CH. Appa Rao Received the “ Faculty Award for Academic Outreach” in the International Faculty Awards 2019 issued by Amaravathi Research Academy held at Sri Mittapalli College of Engineering on 16-10-2019

  • He also received ‘Meritorious Service Award and Certificate of Appreciation from CCE as “Content Developer and Master Trainer in Logistics and Supply Chain Management” in the ‘Celebration of Teachers’ Function Organized by CCE AP, Vijayawada held on 18th October 2022.
