V.S.R. Govt. Degree & P.G. College is a prestigious and pioneering institution of higher learning in Andhra Pradesh. The college was established in the year 1984 as per the G.O. Ms. No. 509/EDN dated 28-11-1984, thanks to the efforts of Sri. Mandava Janaki Ramaiah, chairman of Kshetrayya general and Technical educational society. Prof. M.V.Rama Sarma the then Vice Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara University, who belongs to Movva inaugurated the Degree college.
Initially only B.A. and B.Com courses were started. At present the college is offering eleven undergraduate courses and four postgraduate courses.
The college went for NAAC for 4th cycle and got B+ grade with a CGPA of 2.70 and In the third cycle we got ‘A’ Grade with CGPA of 3.01 which was the highest in rural colleges. An ISO certified institution. Students around Movva Mandal, Ghantasala Challapalli, Koduru and Avanigadda, Pamidimukkala, Pamareu mandals are pursuing various UG and PG courses in the college. In addition to regular programmes on various platforms like JKC, CISCO WebEx, Microsoft upskill programmes, and skill development programmes, etc. for the enrichment of quality of education, especially employable skills.
