Basic Concepts of RRC

 

Since 1991, Red Ribbon Club is a movement started by the Government of India in educational institutions through which students will be made aware about AIDS.

  • The color of red was then chosen as it symbolizes the color of BLOOD, the idea of PASSION–not only ANGER by LOVE.
  • The Red Ribbon is the international symbol of HIV/AIDS awareness
  • Bywearing a Red Ribbon–Care &Concern for those living with HIV/AIDS.
  • Support to the organizations that care for the HIV/AIDS.

 

What is RRC?

 Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a voluntary on campus intervention is being implemented in the higherEducational institutions, aiming at heightening their risk perception and preventing HIV as well aspromoting voluntary blood donation among youth between the age of 17-25 yrs. with DepartmentofHigherEducation,technicalsupportfromAPSACS

GOAL OF RRC

 Equipping youth with correct information on HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment, Care and Supporting.

  • To make HIV/AIDS free INDIA by creating awareness about thespreadandcauseofHIV/AIDSamongthestudentyouth,non-studentyouthandpublic.

 Objectives:

 To reduce new HIV infection among youth by raising their riskperception through awareness on Sex, Sexuality and HIV &AIDS.

  • To induce among youth the spirit to help and support PeopleLiving with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) there by reducing stigma anddiscriminationagainstPLHIVs.
  • To motivate youth and build their capacity as peer educatorsand change agents by developing theirskills on leadership,negotiation,andteambuilding.
  • To promote Voluntary non-remunerated Blood Donation among youth.

  RED RIBBON CLUB ACTIVITIES

  

  • RRC counducted rallies on WORLDAIDS DAY.
  • Prepared Red Ribbon logo on Thermocol sheet.
  • RRC volunteers counducted awareness programme
  • Participated in competitions organized by APSACS & NACO
  • Conducted Awareness programme on HIV/AIDS
